One of my most popular art projects is my free public miniature art hunts! Each summer I perform art hunts for different towns all over the country. My hunt in Northville, Michigan this summer was indoors and featured art hidden in ten local businesses. I decided to take a set of photos and let you go on an art hunt from your computer!
The goal is to find these tiny two inch mustang paintings hidden in each of the photos below. If you like Where's Waldo, or hidden picture games, here's your chance to go on an art hunt! Good luck.

How did you do? Did you find them all? Send this link to others and challenge them to take the miniature art challenge.

Found Art while Cleaning the Park

Last week, Mali and Jayden decided to "help mother nature" (their words) by picking up trash at Aquila Park. In the process they stumbled on some original art. They found the crown octopus that was hidden under a sawed off stump that was embedded into the softball fence. The art was hidden for the SLP Parktacular Art Hunt. They get to keep the art, and just like the other nine winners, they will get an additional prize at the Parktacular Festival next weekend. What a great story. Special thanks to their teacher Danielle, who sent in this report!

Announcement: Northville, Michigan Art Hunt in Summer of 2012

The Miniature Art Hunt

June 22-23rd, 2012

The Northville Community Business Association is proud to present the 2nd annual Northville Miniature Art Hunt on Saturday, June 23 during the Arts and Acts festival. Established by artist William Hessian, the free hunt features miniature works of art that will be hidden "in plain sight" inside 10 businesses in downtown Northville. Families as well as individuals are invited to explore these stores and find the work of art.

Similar to letterboxing, the art is left in place when found but finders get their Northville Miniature Art Hunt playing card stamped at each business. When a participant finds all 10 pieces of art and receives 10 stamps, the playing card can be turned into the Art in the Sun Information Booth at Main and Center and redeemed for a prize.

More information and the free Northville Miniature Art Hunt playing cards will be at the Information Booth at Art in the Sun on Friday and Saturday, June 22 and 23. The Art Hunt begins at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 23 and will conclude that same day at 5:00 p.m. Visitors to the Information Booth will also be invited to "Meet, Greet & Draw" with the artist, William Hessian throughout the weekend.

Artwork being Found in California

The third art hunt in Costa Mesa, Califnornia is happening right now! I hide little artworks all around the public places in the town and everyone is encouraged to go hunting for original (but miniature) art. I then post clues like this:

The clues help people find the artwork. And, find them they do. Check out the first few winners of this years art hunt:

I spend my art hunt weekends uploading clues, getting e-mails from winners, or participants asking questions. I upload photo galleries and ad new clues all weekend long. The hunt goes until all artworks are found. You can see all the clues at the Costa Mesa art hunt website. A huge shout out to Kori Johnson! Without her this art hunt would not have been even close to possible.

You can also learn about my Art as Treasure project and how you can help bring an art hunt to your town.
