EXHIBITION: Vermeer and Music: The Art of Love and Leisure

Bearded Bunny Blog Ticket Giveaway!  First two people to leave a comment on this blog will win a pair of tickets to the show! (The show is in the Twin Cities)

DATE – Thursday, October 10, 2013 (worldwide)

SYNOPSIS - The National Gallery, London, is offering a major exhibition on one of the most startling and fascinating artists of all – Johannes Vermeer, painter of the Girl with a Pearl Earring.   Vermeer painted little more than 30 works that still exist, and the National Gallery has chosen to focus on his art in relation to music.   Music was one of the most popular themes of Dutch painting and revealed an enormous amount about the sitter and the society. This will be the central theme of this ambitious exhibition.  New research, revealed for the first time at this exhibition, also uncovers how his technique and materials affected his works.

Our event goes beyond the exhibition to tell the entire story of Vermeer’s life – and, in doing so, as always we show in detail many other of the artist’s great works.   The 2003 film Girl with a Pearl Earring starring Colin Firth and Scarlet Johansson took $40m worldwide and partly illustrates the great and continuing appeal of this wonderful artist.

Our event will ideally suit this wide audience who adore his work – and want both to see it in detail and learn more about this mysterious, fascinating man.

Tickets can also be purchased at participating theaters or online at: http://www.fathomevents.com/#!vermeer-and-music-the-art-of-love-and-leisure
