Custom Winged Bunny for Birthday Gift

Monday, August the 25th was my dad's birthday. He happens to be the biggest collector of my bearded bunnies to date. I am not sure how many he owns, but it is a very high percentage of the overall number. Last Christmas for his birthday I created a bearded bunny in a postal uniform to honor him, since he is a postal carrier. For his birthday I modified my dragon bunny and created a silver and gold dragon variation including wings that spread out far beyond the edge of the frame:

The great about creating variation of my bearded bunnies series is that it is a fun way to pay homage to your own creations and give them new life. Often times its easy to get sick of your own designs simply be seeing them too often and for long periods of time. Being able to step back and add or subtract from your creation to make something different is a good way to fall in love with it all over again. It can also be a painful lesson in turning something beautiful into to something terrible, but that process has its own benefits. I am reminded of Jasper John or Andy Warhol or Jim Dine who used printing processes to made millions of copies or variations of the same images, American Flags, Mickey Mouse, Marilyn Monroe, and many others. I find this process more fun that one could imagine.

In the very near future I will show you pictures from the 50 other bearded bunny variations I did for Art O Mat antique art vending machines. Found all across america. Stay tuned for that!
